Eisenhower Elementary is a K-5 school within the Hopkins Public School District, located in the city of Hopkins. Last year, we served around 700 amazing scholars and their families.

Eisenhower Elementary is home to Eisenhower Community School, XinXing Chinese immersion, and Juntos Spanish Immersion. We offer students a unique opportunity to develop language and cultural proficiency through our Chinese and Spanish immersion programs. As an International Baccalaureate World School, Eisenhower Elementary aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring young people who help create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.

Opening Doors through Bilingualism

Eisenhower offers Spanish (Juntos) and Mandarin Chinese (XinXing) immersion programs that prepare students to thrive in a global world. Beginning in kindergarten for XinXing and in preschool for Juntos, students learn core academic content in a second language, with English literacy instruction introduced in third grade. Both programs offer opportunities for cultural exchange and travel, and are led by native-speaking educators.

Immersion education supports academic growth and cultural awareness. Bilingual learners often show stronger reading comprehension, better memory, and an increased ability to apply their learning in real-world situations. Many Hopkins students come to us bilingual, or even trilingual. Developing advanced language skills and cultural understanding in an increasingly globalized world is a critical asset in fields like business, healthcare, education, diplomacy, and technology.

Eisenhower Elementary is authorized as an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School offering the Primary Years Programme (PYP).

The PYP is a research-based, student-centered framework that nurtures curiosity, builds critical thinking skills, and encourages learners to take meaningful action in their communities. At Eisenhower, the PYP provides a strong foundation for lifelong learning by connecting classroom instruction to real-world concepts through engaging, interdisciplinary units of inquiry.

Students explore big ideas across subject areas—such as science, social studies, math, and language arts—while developing essential skills like collaboration, reflection, and problem-solving. Through this inquiry-based approach, children are empowered to ask questions, make connections, and deepen their understanding of the world around them.
